Atomium Click the picture to enlarge Click the picture to enlarge Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn for the International Exhibition of 1958, the Atomium represent a crystal molecule of metal. Build in steel clad and aluminium, the edifice is located in Heysel plateau in the commune of Laeken near the Roi Baudoin Stadium and the park of Exhibition. The Atomium is 334.6. ft. high ; the spheres have a diameter of 59.0 ft.
A floor has an area of 2,583 sq.ft and the height between floors is approximately 14.8 ft. The restaurant in the top sphere can sit 140 persons and the viewpoint situated below can contain 250 persons. |
