Quartier Matongé

Quartier Matongé closely located near the European institution offices is the African neighborhood of Brussels with more than 100 different nationalities from all around the world living there, this small neighborhood has a lot to show and give. From around 10.00 a.m until late in the night, you will be able to taste the atmosphere of the place, many African food shops, many afro hairdressers and a lot of ambiance. You may want to try one of the many restaurants, they make good African meal for about 15 Euro per person, do not except to eat in a quiet environment , Matongé is everything but certainly not a quiet place. There are a lot of African bars and everyone is welcome. During the summer there are concerts in the street as you can see on the picture.

Nowaday, for some reasons only few Africans live in the neighborhood, the rent is expensive by Brussels standards, if you want to live in Matongé except to pay a minimum of 600 EURO for a one bedroom flat not furnished. The proximity with the European institutions tend to make the price go higher.
